Store them separately and avoid prolonged wet contact. "Color migration" is a major risk with maid outfits. After cleaning, never let the white components dry while touching the dark latex. Once 100% dry and powdered, store the apron and dress in separate opaque bags to prevent the dark dye from permanently bleeding into the white.
The dress is the priority; the apron is an accessory. Always put on the main dress first using ample silicone dressing aid (lube). Ensure the dress is positioned correctly on the shoulders and waist before adding the apron or petticoat. Using talcum powder on the outside of the dress where the apron sits can prevent the layers from sticking and dragging against each other.
Gentle hand-wash and avoid tension. These frills are often made of very thin latex or have intricate laser-cut patterns. Do not scrub or pull these areas during cleaning. Use a mild latex soap, rinse gently, and lay the garment flat on a towel to air dry. Never hang the outfit by these delicate frills, as the weight of the dress can cause them to tear.
Store flat and isolate metal hardware. Headbands often have an internal plastic or metal frame. Clean the latex surface with a damp cloth and store it flat to avoid warping. For collars with metal buckles, wrap the metal in acid-free tissue paper to prevent it from staining the white or light-colored latex during storage.
