Use ample dressing aid and pull from the hips, not the thin waist edge. Apply a generous amount of silicone lube to your hips and the inside of the skirt. Step into the skirt and use your palms and the pads of your fingers to gradually "shimmy" it up. Never pull by the thin top waistband or use your fingernails, as this is where most tears occur.
To prevent seam splitting at the rear or the vent (slit). When you sit, the tension on the hips and rear increases significantly. Before sitting, gently tug the skirt up slightly at the thighs to create a bit of "give." If the skirt has a walking slit, ensure it isn't under extreme tension, as the top of the slit is a high-risk point for ripping.
Store by hanging and avoid heavy pressure. Latex "memory" means it can hold shapes, but sharp folds can also become permanent creases. Hang pleated skirts from a non-metal hanger using wide, rubber-padded clips at the waist. Ensure the pleats hang naturally and are completely dry and powdered to prevent them from sticking together.
Store flat or hung, 100% dry and away from light. After washing and drying, store the skirt flat in an opaque box or hang it in an opaque garment bag. Use acid-free tissue paper between any layers if you have multiple skirts. Most importantly, keep them in a cool, dark place away from UV light and any metal to prevent discoloration.
